Echo vs. The Dentist (Round One)

Today was a rough day. Echo had to go in for her first round of dental work and it was pretty nasty. When we got there they wouldn't even let me past the waiting room area. They took Echo to the back and let her pick a movie and they wrapped her up tight in a blanket (we warned her about this ahead of time) then they numbed her gums and gave her the nitrus gas and she did pretty well up to this point (from what they told me). As soon as they started to work in her mouth she completely freaked out. The dental assistant told me that most kids fight in the beginning and eventually give up, but that Echo never gave up. I could hear her screaming clear out in the waiting room and it took everything inside of me not to start bawling. When they finally brought her out to me she looked like she had been hit by a bus. Her face and lips were so swollen, and she had the red spots all over her face that you can see in the picture below. We didn't even see the bruises on her shoulders til we gave her a bath tonight. She has a beautiful "princess tooth" on the bottom and two on the top. She doesn't even know that she is going to have to do it all over again on the other side next week. I don't know if I am going to be able to take doing it again either.
